Issue 2 took us shopping at Legacy in Montecito, California. We decided to ask our Creative Editor to spend another Saturday with us shopping. “Let’s make an afternoon and evening of it this time,” Lacey winked!
We started with a late lunch at The Honor Bar on Coast Village Road. We caught up on life in Montecito while snacking on smoked trout and one of Ding’s crispy fried chicken sandwiches. We talked about our own evacuations following the recent fires and mud slides and how our local merchants were devastated, not to mention the tragic loss of lives.
Finally, we decided to move forward to help our own retailers. “Follow me” Lacey smiled. “There is a Hudson Grace here,” which started in 2012 in the neighborhood of Presidio Heights, San Francisco (coincidentally where Lacey grew up). Founders Gary McNatton and his great friend Monelle Totah have now opened five stores in California and now one in Atlanta.
As we curate great stories, these two have curated unique gifts and antiques for entertaining. We were shopping for an elegant spring garden party.
“Let’s start with our party favors” Lacey said and we started to smell the candles. All the candles are formulated by Gary with a master perfumier. We chose the “Montecito” – a blend of jasmine, eucalyptus and cedar wood.
Next was a roll of perforated linen cocktail napkins and large linen napkins in 22 different vibrant colors. Stemless flutes, a dual ice bucket and we were ready to go! Exhausted but happy, we headed to Trattoria Mollie for an early supper. The very charming Mollie greeted us with her famous turkey meatballs.
Stay tuned for Issue 4 of this Magazine. You may find us back at Mollies with a local celebrity.
